LOS ANGELES – Ryan Anderson scored a career-high 27 points, hitting half of California’s 12 3-pointers, and the Golden Bears defeated Oregon State, 70-51, Wednesday night in the first round of the Pac-10 Conference Tournament at Staples Center. The eighth-seeded Golden Bears (15-16) advanced to play No. 1 seed UCLA (26-4) in today’s quarterfinals – a rematch of last year’s title game, won by the Bruins on their way to a runner-up finish in the national title game. Anderson, the Pac-10’s leading freshman scorer (15.9 ppg.) bettered his previous career high of 25. His 15 rebounds were one off his career best. Washington 59, Arizona State 51: Jon Brockman had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and the Huskies (19-12) rallied for the win. Washington will meet rival Washington State (24-6) in the quarterfinal round tonight. Marcel Jones led the Beavers (11-21) with 21 points, their only player in double figures.
