Insp Brian Cooper, East Oxford Police chief, told the Oxford Mail that the aim was to “set the tone for newcomers to the city but to provide them with reassurance as well.”Insp Cooper said he was also seeking closer links with the owners of licensed premises, particularly the Carling Academy, the new music venue on the former Zodiac site, which opens at the end of September.“I’m not expecting the clientele to cause us too many problems, but clearly there is the possibility of it impacting on crime and disorder,” he said.last_img
