The Bulldogs enter the tournament as the No. 10 seed and will face No. 7 Missouri State in a first-round game scheduled to tipoff at 8:30 p.m. The contest will be broadcast on MVC TV affiliates. Two weeks ago, MSU edged the Bulldogs, 61-52, in Springfield, Mo., despite a career-high 16 points from Ore Arogundade (Chicago, Ill.). In the first meeting of the season, Drake held a 15-point lead before falling at home, 79-70. Arogundade has averaged 9.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game in the last 12 games after following that up that career-high 16 points with a career-high 15 rebounds against Loyola.The Bulldogs are 17-36 all-time in MVC Tournament action and 2-2 as the No. 10 seed. They enter the MVC Tournament with a 7-23 overall record. MSU earned the No. 7 seed with an 8-10 conference record and a 12-18 overall mark.Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.), who recently surpassed the 500-point mark this season, is third in the MVC in scoring at 16.9 points per game to earn honorable mention All-MVC honors. He has now scored 20 or more points nine times this season. In the Bulldogs’ last outing, a 69-59 overtime win against Loyola, he opened the overtime period with six-straight points to give the Bulldogs a quick lead before finishing with 17 points in the victory.Freshman center Dominik Olejniczak has also seen his offensive production surge as he is 50-of-63 from the field in the last 13 games. He has scored eight or more points in six of the last seven games with four double-figure scoring games in that span including a 19-point, nine-rebound and six block effort in the win over Loyola. Olejniczak has had two of his top games of the year against Missouri State and is averaging 13.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 80 percent against the Bears. In the last meeting at JQH Arena, he recorded 12 point and six rebounds.
