The Bulldogs improved to 3-2 to open MVC play for the first time since the 2008-09 season with the win.Coming off a career-high game against Evansville, junior Ore Arogundade (Chicago, Ill.) recorded a game-high 15 points as well as a team-high eight rebounds. Arogundade was followed by sophomore Billy Wampler (Eau Claire, Wis.) who recorded 15 points shooting 4-of-6 from the three-point arc. “I’m proud of our guys and they played another efficient game, which starts on the defensive end and getting stops,” said Drake head coach Jeff Rutter. “In the wins that we’ve had, we’ve won the hustle points and we compounded that by hitting 10 threes and having a balanced attack tonight.” Box Score (PDF) Box Score (HTML) T.J. Thomas (Stone Mountain, Ga.), Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.), and Graham Woodward (Edina, Minn.) joined Arogundade and Wampler in double digits. Thomas added 12 points, followed by Woodward with 10. Timmer, who recorded 11 points, now has 1,152 career points to rank 15th all-time in scoring at Drake.Junior  C.J. Rivers (Cahokia, Ill.) recorded a career high nine assists, along with seven points and five rebounds. As a team the Bulldogs dished out 21 assists on 33 field goals. The 17-point margin of victory was the biggest for the Bulldogs in the series since Jan. 7, 2009.After taking a 42-33 lead at halftime, the Bulldogs held Indiana State to only 27.8 percent shooting in the second half. The Bulldogs shot 33-of-69 (47.8 percent) in the game and 57.6 percent in the second half while only committing nine turnovers. Drake had 12 different players record points and rebounds.Indiana State (6-11, 0-5 MVC) was led by Everett Clemons and Brenton Scott who both tallied 12 points. Clemons also nabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.The Bulldogs travel to in-state rivals UNI for a Sunday, Jan. 15 at 3 p.m. game.
