first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa – Drake defensive linemen Nathan Clayberg (Pella, Iowa) and Tanner Evans (Gretna, Neb.) have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Football, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).Clayberg and Evans are the ninth and tenth player in Drake football history to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team and the first since 2011 when Michael Lahart earned second team honors.Clayberg was selected CoSIDA Academic All-America first team, becoming the fourth Bulldog in program history to earn first team honors. Clayberg is a finance and accounting major with a 3.82 grade point average and was named first team All-Pioneer Football League after recording 44 tackles with five tackles for a loss and 2.5 sacks. Evans was tabbed CoSIDA Academic All-America second team as he owns a 3.79 GPA as a finance and politics major. He led the Bulldogs and ranked third in the PFL with six sacks and also recorded 44 tackles with a team-best 7.5 tackles for a loss.Clayberg and Evans join Todd Gaffney (1974), Tom Holt (1983), Dave Doeren (1993), Nate Schneider (1996), Eric Brezina (1998, 1999), Tait Johnson (1998, 1999), Chris Daniels (2005), and Michael Lahart (2011) as Academic All-Americans for the Bulldogs.Print Friendly Versionlast_img
