And this has an important spin off for the villages and towns where the farmers live and shop and do their business.“Farmers are key to sustaining a local community and it is right that we do our utmost to support them and the next generation who are thinking about a life and career on the land.”The €38.3m fund was confirmed in the Basic Farm Payment allocation for Donegal by the Department of Agriculture and Food.Minister McHugh added: “These cash payments are a key priority for Fine Gael to ensure the greatest number of farmers can be helped at the earliest possible opportunity. “Part of this year’s payments include a higher advance payment of 70% for 2019 rather than 50% as provided for in the EU legislation. I would like to thank Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed for helping to secure this with the EU Commission.“We also need to make sure the payments are made as quickly and efficiently as possible. They are hugely important for our farmers.”More than 7,700 Donegal farmers to reap €38 million financial fund was last modified: October 24th, 2019 by Shaun KeenanShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Donegal FarmingfarmingFinancelast_img
