We had given time to you (state) to regulate your activities. There are photographs showing beach camps. We are not against camping and rafting. But regulate the activity. You cant have people carry weapons, play loud music and pollute Ganga. Not a single sich camp should be seen in the state,” a bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar said.During the proceedings, the green panel also directed a journalist, on whose report it had issued notice to Uttarakhand government to state whether any camps were located within 100 metres from the middle of Ganga or its tributaries, to file an affidavit giving details about his.The Tribunal had taken note of the report which had claimed that some resorts had put up beach camping tents in Havel valley in Yamkeshwar block of Pauri district on the banks of tributary Havel for New Year eve celebrations. On December 10 last year, the tribunal had banned camping activities in the entire belt of Kaudiyala to Rishikesh till the regulatory regime came into force but permitted the adventure sport, river rafting, with immediate effect. The panel had constituted a committee of officials from various departments of central and Uttarakhand government to prepare a regulatory regime which should be submitted to the tribunal within three weeks.
