NRL Referees Chris James and Adam Gee were in attendance to speak to group about their experiences and the exciting opportunities for referees as part of the Touch Football Australia and NRL partnership.James and Gee spoke on their journeys to the NRL and the various steps along the way, as well as dealing with the pressure of officiating at the elite level of the sport and the various expectations put on them to perform. With over 140 NRL games between them, the pair emphasised the importance of coaches and mentors for young referees, particularly important at an event such as the National Youth Championships and were looking forward to seeing everyone in action on day one of the event.Both of the guys were extremely impressed by the culture and community awareness of the referees, highlighted by their support of the Courage for Cody Appeal.
