For over 20 years, Shareheat has provided emergency home heating assistance to residents within the Central Vermont Public Service (CVPS) territory. This resource is used primarily when low-income Vermonters find themselves ineligible for other programs, beyond their eligibility, or applying for assistance for the first time.Funds for Shareheat are raised from the general public and matched dollar for dollar by CVPS shareholders. In July CVPS kicked off its annual Shareheat campaign five months earlier than usual. CVPS pledged $100,000 in matching funds for incoming donations, and combined with the Shareheat Business Partnership Program that amount has increased to $185,000 for this heating season.”Chittenden Bank’s generous support will ensure dozens of Vermont families stay warm, and it will encourage others to support Shareheat by doubling their own contributions,” said CVPS President and CEO Robert Young. “Chittenden has shown tremendous leadership by proactively addressing the issue of emergency home heating assistance, and we greatly appreciate the support they have shown by donating $20,000 to the CVPS Shareheat fund.””Chittenden Bank is pleased to partner with CVPS by donating $20,000 through the Shareheat Business Partnership Program. With the cold days and nights of winter upon us, there are many Vermonters who will struggle to keep their families warm. It is important that we do what we can to help,” explained Michael Seaver, President of Chittenden Bank. How Shareheat WorksAll Shareheat funds are distributed to individuals through community action agencies, and agency caseworkers determine how best to allocate the funds.
